Cree Language and Culture Program Resources

These posters are a sample from the large inventory of classroom posters available to the Cree Language and Culture Program. These posters feature Elders and their teachings.

In these resources, learners are introduced to the traditional practice of gifting Friendship Feathers. They learn from Elders Leon and Rachel Nanooch who share teachings about the meaning and making of Friendship Feathers.

In these resources, learners learn about kinship roles by listening to Elder Steven Auger share stories about his childhood on the land. Then, they identify family roles and responsibilities, and acknowledge the role of providers in their families.

These resources support K–6 learners with Woodland Cree vocabulary related to kinship. A video shows learners how to pronounce various Kinship terms in Woodland Cree, while accompanying worksheets provide practice activities.
