Teadance Origins

These resources explore the origins, stories, and meanings connected to the Teadance in Little Red River Cree Nation. The videos feature our Elders and Knowledge Keepers as they talk about and demonstrate the Teadance. Students complete activities to reflect on what they learned. A teacher guide is included.

These resources introduce students to traditional skills and activities at Fall Camp. Students watch demonstration videos of making bannock, stretching bear claws, snaring rabbits, and skinning rabbits. Students make a How-To Guide for one skill demonstrated in the Fall Camp videos. A teacher guide is included.

Syllabics: ᒐ ᒉ ᒋ ᒍ

These resources help students learn and practice the ᒐ ᒉ ᒋ ᒍ (tch) syllabics. A video demonstrates the shape and sound of each syllabic on its own and in words such as ᒥᒉ mitche (eat) and ᒋᐸᐩ tchipay (spirit). Then, students complete activities and games to practice saying, reading, and printing the ᒐ ᒉ ᒋ ᒍ syllabics. A highlight of these resources is an illustrated storytelling video in which the character ᒋᒋ tchitchi (Brother) gets ready to go hunting using many words with ᒐ ᒉ ᒋ ᒍ syllabics. A teacher guide is included.

These resources help students learn and practice the vowel syllabics. A video demonstrates the shape and sound of each syllabic on its own and in words such as ᐊᐯ ape (sit) and ᐅᐱ opi (jump). Then, students complete activities and games to practice saying and reading the vowel sounds. A highlight of these resources is an illustrated storytelling video in which the adventures of ᐅᐅ oho (Owl) teach students to read simple ᐊ ᐁ ᐃ ᐅ words. A teacher guide is included.
