Sunshine Sounds: Our Friend Sam the Sasquatch / ᒥᐢᑕᐯ०

These resources introduce learners to Sam the Sasquatch ᒥᐢᑕᐯ० who teaches learners about friendship. They learn how to be a good friend, work together in group activities, and learn friendship vocabulary words in Woodland Cree.

Changes to the Land

These resources explore human activities and industries that have impacted the land and water around Little Red River. Elder Steven Auger talks about changes he has observed in wildlife along the Peace River over his lifetime. Then, learners do mini-research projects on local industries, including the Site C Dam, logging, farming, and oil.

Wild Plant Identification

These resources introduce learners to plants and trees that grow around Little Red River. Elders Celestan Nanooch and Jimmy Metsikassus locate various plants and describe their characteristics and traditional uses. Then, learners create a field guide to record what they have learned about local plants.

Researching an Ancestor

These resources introduce learners to the Little Red River Cree Nation treaty annuity paylist records from 1899 to 1945. Learners search for ancestors on the annuity paylist and find information about their lives and families. They also read stories about life in the old days as shared by Elders of Little Red River and look at historical photos of people and local places.
